“才”的用法
the uses of 才 (only, just now, not until) emphasizes one’s expectations. For example, 他每天11点才睡觉。(He doesn’t sleep until 11 everyday.); you expect people to go to bed before 11 pm. 才 therefore reflects one’s expectations that must be met, as in 你先给我钱,我才让你进去。(Unless you pay me first, I won’t let you in.)
